At Downe Primary School, we believe that every child should feel that they truly belong. We are proud of our warm, joyful and inclusive school community, where children are celebrated for who they are and encouraged to become confident, happy and successful learners.

We know our children as individuals. We recognise their different strengths, needs and starting points, and work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to flourish. Inclusion at Downe is not simply about providing additional support; it is about creating a school where kindness, understanding and respect are part of everyday life, and where every child feels seen, heard and valued.

This was recognised during our July 2026 Ofsted inspection, when Downe achieved a Strong Standard and inspectors praised the joyful and inclusive nature of our school. We are incredibly proud that the warmth and sense of belonging that we value so highly at Downe were so clearly recognised.

Working in partnership with our families and, where needed, external professionals, we aim to provide the right support at the right time. Above all, we want every child who comes through our doors to know that there is a place for them at Downe, they matter, and we believe in what they can achieve.
